If you know of any blind artists, or places where blind artists hang out,
please pass this message along to them. In addition to Chrissie's contact
details I can be reached free from the US on 1-888-625-8684.

Subject: The ACB Radio Cafe Wants Artists

Hi All

Firstly many apologies if this message is a bit long but there's a lot to
get in so let's start.

My name is Chrissie Cochrane and I have been asked by ACB Radio to give one
of our streams, the ACB Radio Café, a bit of a face lift. You may or may
not know of the ACB Radio Café, but for those who don't, it's a stream run
by ACB Radio and is on 24 hours a day, seven days a week and features the
work of bllind musicians. You can reach it via the acbradio.org page, and
it is streamed both for modem and broadband.

Those who have listened to it recently, I hope will notice that there have
been quite a few new tracks on there, and it's this I would dearly love to
encourage. Also, we are hoping to update the audio quality of tracks that
are already there. At the moment in most cases we only have 56 bit mp3
copies and as we are hopefully going to upgrade the stream in the future we
need better audio quality. So where do you come in? Well, if you're a
blind musician, or blind and in a band/group, or even, come to that if
you're a blind poet, comedian comedy writer or short story writer and can
read your own work, or have someone read it fluently, I want to hear from
you. I also want to hear from artists who already have their material on
the Café, as in all cases I would like to get better audio quality versions
of existing tracks. To this end, at the bottom of this message is a list of
all artists currently appearing on the ACB Radio Café. I must appologise if
any of the spellings are incorrect, but I have only had the original
filenames to go from, and unfortunately we do not have records of people's
email addresses or any contact details.

Another thing I should like to encourage is artists announcing their own
tracks - giving little biographical details, or letting people know if their
work is for sale. I see the Café as a showcase for people to advertise
their work to a wider audience. Remember it's not just the blind community
that listen to the Café - who knows, a major record producer may stumble
upon it whilst surfing the net - you just never know, and to that end, for
each artist getting in touch, or new artist wanting to put material on the
Café, I will send you a short request for permission to use your material. .

Okay, that's what I would like to see from the Café, so how can you help?

There are several ways of getting your files to me, the first is, if you
have a general enquiry concerning the Cafe you can email me at
chrissie@acbradio.org. If you have ftp facilities, and also can make your
music into mp3 files, you can anonymous ftp them to acbradio.org and put
them in incoming/acbradio.
You can also do this using the .wav file format although this takes up much
more room, and can take a long time to uploa.
If you do ftp your music, it
would also be nice, and more of a personal touch which I am encouraging, if
you could perhaps do a short announcement for each track as either a
separate file, or as part of the main track, saying who you are, what the
track title is and a little bit about yourself, and whether you have any of
your music available for sale and how people can purchase your work. The
mp3s should be encoded at a minimum of
128 bit with a sample frequency of 44.1 khz.

If the files are less than 10 megs each, and you don't have ftp facilities,
you can also send them directly to me as email attachments (one track per
email) to chrissie@rose.demon.co.uk. Do not send them to
chrissie@acbradio.org as that doesn't handle attachments.

If however your music is on cd, you can either send it directly to me at:

Chrissie Cochrane
151 Fawe Park road
London
SW 15 2EG
UK,

or let me know where geographically you are and I can see if there is a
member of the ACB Radio team near you who could encode the tracks for you,
which of course would save on postage.

Unfortunately, in the case of cds, we do not have the facilities to return
any.

As far as personal announcements of tracks is concerned, there is another
way to do this. If you have Skype, you can Skype me at chrissie.rose or
give me your phone number and I can record your voice announcements.

Remember the Café is your showcase to the world, so the higher the quality,
both artistically and in terms of audio the better!

So at last we come to the list of artists. If you are on this list, or know
someone who is, please do get in touch with me as I should like to arrange
for better audio quality tracks than those presently on the Café.

I also host a monthly show on the Café called "Across the Café Table" in
which I talk in depth to an artist who's work is being showcased, and play
some of their music. I should love to hear from you if you would like to
take part in this. I can record any interview with you either by Skype or
telephone so please feel free to get in touch.

Please do have a look at this list and if you're on there, or know someone
who is, let me know. Let's make the Café one of the best streams on the
Internet! Here now is the List of Artists:
